Live Webcast: New Knee Revision Procedure

SOURCE: OR-Live, Inc.
3:02PM, November 21, 2007

Renowned orthopaedic surgeon Lawrence S. Crossett, MD, will perform a revision knee replacement surgery using mobile-bearing knee implants from DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc.: the LCSĀ® Completeā„¢ Revision System offers surgeons constrained rotating platform device with metaphyseal sleeves to provide rotational stability and fill cavitary defects.

Taking place at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside Hospital.

Moderators: James E. Dowd, MD, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Director of Clinical Research, Jordan-Young Institute, Virginia Beach, VA.

Brian D. Haas, MD, Clinical Director, Rocky Mountain Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory, Denver, Colorado and Clinical Director, Colorado Joint Replacement, Denver, Colorado.

About Knee Replacement
The demand for knee replacement is growing rapidly. It is estimated that the number of primary total knee replacements will increase by 673 percent -- to 3.48 million -- in 2030. This is due in part to the growing number of Baby Boomers with osteoarthritis and the rise in obesity among the population.1

As with any medical treatment, individual results may vary. Only an orthopaedic surgeon can determine whether an orthopaedic implant is an appropriate course of treatment. There are potential risks, and recovery takes time. The performance of the new joint depends on weight, activity level, age and other factors.
